Matthew D. Bartel joined the AFN in December 2002 and continues to lead the organization in his current position as Chief Operating Officer, and also serves as the corporations Secretary and Treasurer. In his current position, he assists the CEO in developing & directing strategic opportunities for the corporation. Mr. Bartel's skills are a critical element of the ongoing development and implementation of the AFN's various national educational offerings. Mr. Bartel also manages all industry events and conferences created by the AFN, and he completely oversees the marketing, day to day operations and administrative functions of the corporation.

Mr. Bartel is recognized as a national leader & dynamic professional in the Financial Services Industry, with over ten years experience in marketing, executive sales, management, leadership and operations among others. He has enjoyed management positions in various other industries such as healthcare, retail and e-commerce. He holds a BS degree in Business Administration & Economics from Central Methodist University. In addition, he has AAS degrees and One Year Certificates in both Business Management and Marketing from East Central College. Mr. Bartel is currently planning to finish his MBA.

Mr. Bartel has appeared in national financial publications such as Servicing Management, Mortgage Servicing News, National Mortgage News, MBA Newslink, The Daily & DSNews. In addition, he has appeared in the St. Louis Business Journal and Washington Missourian. He also participated in an international televised Financial Series on CNBC's World Business Review with General Alexander Haig. During this segment, he provided an overview of his current role within the AFN, and his continued goals of promulgating the AFN as an industry leader, and remaining the largest organization of its kind in the U.S.

Mr. Bartel currently holds active memberships in the MBA (Mortgage Bankers Association) and CMBA (California Mortgage Bankers Association). He has also been an active participant on various mortgage banking industry committees.
